Taylor Swift "Patient Zero"
“Patient Zero” is a song by the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the 2026 reissue of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl (2025). She wrote and produced the song alongside Max Martin and Shellback. It was released by Republic Records on September 25, 2026, as the fourth single from the album overall.
The song recounts an emotionally abusive relationship and addresses a subject who is experiencing the same issues. Musically, it is a mid-tempo popsong led by a Celtic folk-inspired fiddle riff, a muted electronica arrangement, hip-hop percussion, and staccato vocals over disco beats.
Swift wrote and directed the music video for the track, which Emmanuel Lubezki shot. It premiered at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27. The video took stylistic inspirations from true crime and gothic cinema, and stars Swift as a ghost haunting an affluent couple played by Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson. Matthew Stafford and Cara Delevingnealso appear in guest roles.
